Professional Bio

Cath moved into policy and advocacy after more than 15 years as biomedical researcher. After she was awarded her PhD, Cath’s research career has taken her from Brisbane at the University of Queensland to Columbia University in New York City (NY, USA) and then to the Burnet Institute in Melbourne. At AAMRI, Cath leads a wide range of strategic policy and projects, provides evidence-based advice to members and represents MRIs on a wide range of policy issues affecting medical research. She has been leading AAMRI’s major member-wide data collection project since 2015 where she has conducted detailed analyses of MRI sector trends in revenue, expenditure, competitive grants and workforce.
